Meet Your Officiant

I’m Ruthanne—the heart behind Heartwritten Ceremonies.

I’m a Marriage Officiant and Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant® who believes your ceremony should feel just as meaningful as the commitment you’re making. Not scripted. Not generic. Something that truly reflects who you are as a couple. As an Ordained Minister through the Canadian International Metaphysical Ministry (CIMM), I’m able to perform ceremonies across all faiths, cultures, and spiritual beliefs, creating space for each ceremony to feel inclusive, personal, and true to you.

Weddings have been a part of my life for a long time. Since 2007, I’ve had the privilege of working with couples in a variety of roles, from wedding planning to venue event management, helping bring their days to life behind the scenes. Over the years, I’ve come to understand not just how a ceremony is written, but how it fits into the flow of the entire day, so it feels seamless, relaxed, and meaningful from start to finish.

What I’ve always loved most is getting to know each couple and helping them create something that feels personal and true to them.  Over time, I found myself drawn more and more to the ceremony itself - the moment everything leads up to, the part of the day where your story is shared and your commitment becomes real. Watching from the sidelines, I saw how much that moment matters, and how important it is to have the right person guiding it.

Ceremonies can be emotional, lighthearted, warm, relaxed, or a mix of all of it. What matters most is that it feels like you. My role is to understand your personalities and what you want that moment to feel like, so your ceremony reflects your relationship in a way that’s genuine and natural.

Becoming an officiant felt like a natural next step, one that allows me to take everything I’ve learned and focus on what matters most: creating a ceremony that feels genuine, meaningful, and completely yours.
